Associated Gas

In underground hydrocarbon formations, gases are often dissolved in oil. This “associated” gas is co-produced when oil is brought to the surface and the gas flashes off. In many part of the world, associated gas is flared to get to the oil. This practice has long been banned in the United States and currently, efforts are underway in many countries to capture, treat and utilize these small stranded gas streams without flaring.
